Welcome to the Wellness Center’s first Blog! We wanted to create a place where we could share some of our favorite recipes and stories about good food. As you know, we have partnered up with The Farm Table in order to have access to very fresh, locally grown produce. The importance of this produce in our own lives led us to want to extend it to all of you. We have not been disappointed in the quality of the produce so far, and each of us has enjoyed eating freshly picked food and trying new foods with which we might never otherwise have come into contact. We will be sharing photos and recipes that come straight from our use of this fresh produce. Please feel free to leave comments and recipes of your own!
You may all know me as the Office Coordinator at the Wellness Center, but you may not know that I am also an avid cook and recipe collector.
I have been cooking since I was very young, my mother swears she had me cracking eggs at 2 years old. I had the great advantage of having one of those real Italian grandmothers who made it their job to feed everyone with which they came in contact, and to try and pass on those family secrets to the next generation. My Mom-mom taught my mother and myself everything she knew, and we practice the recipes to this day. When I make her sauce, or her Christmas cookies, I can hear her voice over my shoulder correcting me to this day. Long live the wooden spoon, and mangia, mangia, mangia!
