The Wellness Center is one of the Northern Virginia spots for picking up your Seasonal Roots produce box! If you are interested in receiving weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly deliveries of fresh, locally grown vegetables, fruits, meat, dairy, eggs, and baked goods then join us as a member of Seasonal Roots.
To sign up, please go to the Seasonal Roots site. Select Burke Wellness Center as your drop off location. Each Wednesday morning the boxes will be delivered fresh for you to pick up right here at our air conditioned office so you do not have to worry about wilting greens or spoiled cheese. The initial sign up fee is $50 for the entire year. Then, you only need to pay for the boxes that you actually receive and can schedule weeks you want to skip.
Box options include a Small Box ($19.00) with 4 items, a Medium Box ($34.00) with 8 items, and a Large Box ($42.00) with 12 items. You are able to swap any item that comes with your box for something different. There are many extra items available to add to your box, as well! A menu will be emailed to you on Friday afternoon, detailing what will be in the next week's box. Between Friday and Sunday of the week prior, you can choose to opt-out of receiving that box, leave it as is, add extra items, or swap out items you might not use.
Seasonal Roots (formerly The Farm Table) started out in 2010 as an organization that wanted to rebuild a community by reconnecting people in Richmond with local farmers who are dedicating their careers to real food – food that is grown on sustainable land, harvested when it is at its peak of ripeness, and delivered fresh within 48 hours of harvest. They also wanted to help people who could not get to Farmer’s Markets gain access to great produce that tastes good and is good for them and their families. Going into their sixth season in 2016, with a new name, that vision lives on – and they are now the largest food co-op in in Virginia. They serve Richmond, Fredericksburg, and Williamsburg to Virginia Beach, and they expanded to Northern Virginia in June 2014.
